Deep Frying

Hi there, I will be buying a single pan deep fryer just for french fries to begin with. Can I use 1 basket for gluten free chips and another for regular french fries? or will that lead to gluten contamination? Thanks heaps!!

Steve's response: Thanks for the question! First, never use the same fying oil for both gluten free and non gluten free items. I think you know that? Second, I believe as long as you clean the baskets and the inside of the fryolator after using it for any non gluten free items, I see no problem with using the appliance interchangeably. So you can use 1 basket for gluten free and one for non gluten free as or use them both for gluten free as long as they are thoroughly washed. In our house we use frying pans, cutlery and other cooking utensils for both gluten free and non gluten free be we always thoroughly wash the item prior to using it for gluten free food and we never cross contaminate while serving or preparing food. They only real exception is a toaster because you can't really clean it thoroughly so we always use a seperate toaster.
